Episode 4: Pet Food
I am not a crazy cat lady, but close. In my 28 years I have loved 9 different cats! Each one had/has a unique personality and holds a special place in my heart. My current little beastie is Dice a 12 year old, 19 pound piebald (black and white) kitty who is going senile and waking us up at 4am for no good reason. But I love him anyway.
Pets are part of our families! We love them as children, or brothers and sisters. They bring so much love, comfort and joy to our lives, they deserve our respect and care in return. When my old kitty Momo got cancer a few years ago, I started thinking about the food we were giving him. I had never thought about it before, but knowing that unhealthy food contributes to a lot of disease in humans, I figured the same would go for animals.
In today's episode I am sharing some hard realities about the pet food industry. What I found might be hard for some of you to stomach. You don't have to listen, but on the other hand, nothing will change if we don't shake up the complacency and start demanding higher standards for our loved ones.
After you listen, I'd love to hear about your pets, and what you feed them. Have you found a company that's producing high quality pet food? Or maybe you make it yourself? Let us know!
